Spy Museum Temporarily Closed from December 24 through January 21

WASHINGTON - December 21, 2020 - As a public health precaution in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and in accordance with Mayor Bowser’s recent order, the International Spy Museum will temporarily close to the public on December 24 and will re-open on January 22, 2021.

"It's an honor to have been a fixture in Washington, DC for over 18 years. Post-pandemic will be a time for our City to shine," shared Tamara Christian, president and COO of the International Spy Museum. "We are committed to doing our part to keep the community safe and look forward to re-opening safely on January 15th. Until then, we are grateful to everyone who continues to support the Spy Museum by donating, buying Spy Museum store items, and joining us for virtual public programs and private events."

While the Museum's doors is temporarily closed to visitors, the public can still experience the Museum virtually through SPY's robust social media channels; the historian/curator's weekly podcast, SpyCast; educational resources for parents, teachers, and learners of all ages; customizable virtual events offerings ranging from birthday parties and educational workshops to cocktail hours and speaker events; and through a full slate of virtual programming in 2021.

The International Spy Museum retail store will be closed to in-person shopping but will continue to offer delivery for those shopping at the online store: www.spymuseumstore.org

For those interested in supporting the nonprofit at this time, please consider the Mission Resilience Fund. Thanks to a generous donor, a Matching Campaign is in effect and will double the impact of all Museum gifts through end of year.

About the International Spy Museum
The International Spy Museum, an independent nonprofit organization, is the only public museum in the United States to lift the veil on the tradecraft, history, and contemporary role of espionage and intelligence from a global perspective. The mission of the International Spy Museum is to educate the public about espionage and intelligence in an engaging way and to provide a context that fosters understanding of their important role and impact on current and historic events. The Museum's collection chronicles the history of espionage, from its inception, to the modern-day challenges facing intelligence professionals worldwide in the 21st Century. The original Spy Museum opened in 2002. Its new, expanded building and all-new exhibitions opened in May 2019 to much acclaim.
