Your Mission: Celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival at the International Spy Museum

Washington, DC – This year, celebrate DC’s famous blooms with the International Spy Museum (SPY). In honor of the 101th anniversary of the gift of trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC, SPY is offering special Blossom-themed programming.

On Saturday, April 6th from 1:00 – 3:00PM, discover the secret art of Ninjitsu in a day of top-secret KidSpy training with Operation Ninja. Join Viran Ranasinghe and his troop of martial artists who have studied the art of Ninjitsu and are prepared to share the secrets of the Ninja with willing “recruits.” From ninja star target practice to listening drills, young ninjas-in-training will challenge their physical and mental skills and determine if they have what it takes to join the ranks of the Ninja spies. NOTE: Operation Ninja is for children ages 10-14.  Space is limited – registration is required. For more details see: https://www.spymuseum.org/calendar/detail/kidspy-program-operation-ninja/

The International Spy Museum has also created a SCVNGR challenge combining cherry blossoms and the intriguing world of espionage! The game is downloadable, free-of-charge, and available to all with a smart phone. Those who complete the challenges will earn points and unlock badges. The game will be available throughout the Cherry Blossom Festival at http://www.scvngr.com/places/1382747

International Spy Museum

The International Spy Museum is the only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage and the only one in the world to provide a global perspective on an all-but-invisible profession that has shaped history and continues to have a significant impact on world events. The Museum features the largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display, offering a rare glimpse into the whispered world of covert operations and the silent, unknown men and women behind them, making it an experience like no other. The International Spy Museum opened in Washington, D.C., just over 10 years ago on July 19, 2002.
