Virtual Spy Chat with Chris Costa
Featured Guest: Kristin Wood
Join us for an online discussion of the latest intelligence, national security, and terrorism issues in the news. Spy Museum Executive Director Chris Costa will lead the briefing. Costa a former intelligence officer of 34 years with 25 of those in active duty in hot spots such as Panama, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq is also a past Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Council. He will be joined by Spy Museum Advisory Board Member Kristin Wood.

From Presidential Daily Briefer to Deputy Chief in the Middle East, Wood’s 20-year career with the CIA was wide-ranging. She led a variety of missions in analysis and operations and was heavily involved in digital innovation. She was most recently Deputy Chief of the Innovation & Technology Group at the Open Source Center (OSC). She led OSC’s open-source IT and innovation efforts to extract meaning from big data by guiding teams of analysts, data scientists, data management officers, engineers, programmers, developers, and researchers in creating tools for the future.
Earlier in her career she served as an analyst overseas in the Middle East, a military analyst during the Balkans war, and an imagery analyst during the first Persian Gulf War. She was the first analyst ever selected as deputy chief of a regional Directorate of Operations (DO) division; she was the founder of this new DO focused on the Middle East. Later her deep experience was called upon when the Bush Administration was considering whether to go to war: Wood led the team examining al-Qaeda’s ties in the Middle East in the Office of Terrorism Analysis in the Counterterrorism Center (CTC).
Following their discussion of key issues, you’ll be able to ask questions via our online platform.
