Accessory to a Mission Part I: Gadgets and Gear for the Well-Dressed Spy

Shoes with hidden daggers, ties that take photos, watches that watch. A well-turned-out spy might sport a deadly ring or an umbrella tipped with poison. Join us as we look at the coolest spy accessories in our collection.

International Spy Museum Collections Manager Joanna Church and your favorite Spy Museum Happy Hour hosts Amanda Ohlke, Shana Oltmans, and Hannah Saloio will show off some of the jauntiest gear that we have on display and in storage in our spy vault.  (Do we really have as spy vault? Tune in to find out.) Mostly we’re sharing the real stuff, but we have an exciting new artifact to show off that a certain double O from the UK wore in his latest film. Do you wonder what Trotsky’s guards wore on his private train? Ever seen concealment jewelry up close? Crazy about shoes that transmit? Love a closer look at Valerie Plame’s Vanity Fair scarf? Then this is your night.

Our drink this evening is a Bloody Mary! Why? Because you can dress it up with as many “accessories” aka garnishes as you want! 

Bloody Mary

Recipe makes four drinks: 

• 24 oz Tomato Juice 
• 1.5 Tablespoons Creamy Horseradish
• 1.5 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
• 1 Teaspoon of Celery Salt
• 1.5 Teaspoons Garlic Salt 
• Dash of your favorite hot sauce & black pepper to taste 
• Vodka 

Blend together all ingredients except the vodka. 

Rim 8oz glass with a mix of kosher salt & celery salt. 

Fill glass with ice, add 2 oz Vodka, and top with the Bloody Mary mix. 

Accessorize with garnishes!
