Exhibitions & Programs Manager

The International Spy Museum is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of our Exhibitions & Program Manager on a contract basis for a limited time. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years’ experience working in museum education, public history, or related field developing programs. 

  • The anticipated contracting term would be as early as July 2024 for onboarding and would run through January of 2025. Pay for this position is $30hr and it is a 40 hour/week. 

Summary  

The Exhibitions & Program Manager will work closely with the Director of Adult Education to support a variety of engaging public and private programs for various adult audiences featuring historic and contemporary topics that reflect the Museum’s mission. Provide logistical and technical support for adult programs ensuring a high-quality experience for visitors and meeting accessibility needs. Work cross-departmentally to ensure good communication on programs with all Museum staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical and technical support for innovative and engaging programs unique to SPY that align with the Museum’s strategic plan and enrich lives through meaningful educational and personal connections with the Museum.
  • Coordinate with other departments any program needs that require their support.
  • Create checklists for all in-person programs
  • Manage digital platforms for all virtual programs
  • Attend all adult programs in person and virtual (includes some evenings and weekends)
  • Manage all pre-program setup and visitor check-in
  • Be point of contact for all departments regarding day-of program questions
  • Make quick logistics decisions based on current program needs
  • Ensure that hearing assistance devices are charged and available.
  • Work with GS staff to support event  
  • Arrange for ticketing links with IT
  • Support Annual Parade of Trabants car rally on November 2.
  • Arrange for car parking permits in advance
  • Work with GS team and volunteer coordinator to ensure enough staffing
  • Put in all facilities set up requests
  • Manage catering delivery and set up day of
  • Support some departmentwide public programs as needed. (Educator Night Out, Access Days, etc.)
  • Work with Podville Studio on program broadcasting logistics and run/produce program from the SPY side 
  • Create thank you for virtual programs 
  • Maintain program statistics in Asana
  • Organize past program folders in online architecture.  
  • Proofread and edit all adult program copy and Marketing program promotion. 
  • Attend meetings as necessary including, but not limited to weekly department L10 and monthly All Staff and other programmatic logistics meetings 
  • Keep a current written narrative of all upcoming and current adult programs and logistical needs/to dos as a reference 
  • Ensure Spy Programs calendar is up to date with all public pending adult programs 
  • Ensure All Staff calendar program requests go out 

Minimum Education Required

  • College degree in museum education, museum studies, history, or related field preferred. 

Minimum Experience Required 

  • 1-2 years of experience working or interning in museum education, public history, or related field developing programs.  

Skills Preferred 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work with multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Detail oriented with excellent grammar and proofreading skills
