You can’t visit the Spy Museum right now, but we can tell you some of our favorite stories about the spies who live on in our Spies & Spymasters gallery and why not do it over a cocktail? Join us online for a virtual happy hour.
This evening Amanda Ohlke, Director of Adult Education, will tell the tale of James Lafayette. Lafayette was a valued spy for the Patriots during the Revolutionary War, and yet he was enslaved. How did he go undercover to infiltrate the English forces and earn the gratitude of his French commander?
In addition, Ohlke will talk with special guest Jamar Jones who portrays Lafayette in the Spy Museum’s exhibition. Jones is an expert at bringing Colonial period people to life. He’ll share what it’s like to travel back in time and take us with him!
A local bartender from Stoney’s on P Street will be shaking up a cocktail and sharing the recipe for a drink that will perk up your pandemic blues. You’re welcome to ask questions after the talk—whether they relate to Lafayette or what makes a good drink!
