Briefing

Writer, Sailor, Soldier, Spy

Ernest Hemingway, true to his macho image, plunged into intelligence work with characteristic passion.  From the Spanish Civil War to the Cold War, Hemingway engaged in high-intensity spy missions: meeting Soviet operatives in Spain; searching for Fascist spies in Cuba; patrolling the Caribbean for Nazi subs; and roaming the battlefields of France after D-Day; not to mention his recruitment by the NKVD in late 1940.
