The Retail Manager leads and is accountable for maximizing sales and profitability through team leadership, coaching and development, creative sales strategies, merchandising, operational excellence, and sound business decisions
It is important for the Retail Manager to be an independent self-starter, have a positive can-do philosophy, and have a background in coaching and developing staff. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and 6 years of high-volume ($5M+) retail experience including 4 years in a supervisory/training role are required for this position.
Coach and develop staff to exceed store goals by enthusiastically modeling selling behavior, sharing product knowledge, and providing recommendations about ways to connect Guest’s museum experience to our unique and interesting products.
Achieve store sales goals and performance metrics through implementation of revenue building strategies and initiatives, efficient management and execution of our five core service principles: acknowledge/engage the customer, efficient cashiering, personal thank you, and web store reminder.
Drive sales by identifying and acting upon opportunities in the Museum to include in-store events, add-on promos, etc.
Drive sales by implementing and monitoring creative and motivating incentives for staff.
Exceed Customer Expectations:
Coach and develop staff to provide a world class shopping experience by staying connected to customer experience/needs.
Monitor and maintain compliance of all company policies and procedures to make sound business decisions and communicate/educate all staff members to do the same.
Achieve all financial objectives with regard to expense control; labor cost, supply expenses, and inventory control.
Product and Visual Merchandising:
Partners with Buying Team on implementation of visual merchandising/displays and maintains standards consistent with company brand strategies.
Communicates with Buying Team regarding product mix, trends and needs.
Management of Human Resources/Creating Team Success:
Creates and maintains positive employee relations through building, developing and leading a high caliber and cohesive store team.
Ensures on-going specific and immediate coaching and feedback are provided to staff.
Delivers performance documentation in a timely manner; manages conflict resolution.
Prepares and delivers performance reviews and creates staff development plans to ensure top talent in the store and strong succession planning.
Provides major assistance with recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of staff.
Develop ongoing talent pool for growth opportunities and business needs.
Maintains a calm demeanor and manages employee and customer issues professionally and according to store and company standards, setting a positive example.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
BA in Business Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum 6 years high volume (5M+) store management experience
Retail Management knowledge and experience including: sales, customer service, merchandising, scheduling, training, financial management, inventory control and loss prevention.
Staff Development Experience: Knowledge in staffing, coaching, counseling, training and development.
Strong Cash Handling experience to include daily fund management, deposits and change orders.
Strong Computer skills: POS Systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects simultaneously, while being flexible to conditions and remaining focused and organized.
Excellent time management.

You are expected to work a majority of your time on the sales floor working with customers and staff, managing inventory flow to include visual merchandising and displays, which requires significant physical activity.
