The International Spy Museum is currently seeking qualified individuals to work in our Facilities Department.
Maintain both interior and exterior structures within the International Spy Museum domain. Under minimal supervision, performs both reactive and preventative maintenance tasks at a high level of proficiency.
Tasks may require skills associated with carpentry, locksmithing, finishing, painting, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing during the upkeep or improvement of various property structures or equipment. These may include but are not limited to walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, platforms, partitions, windows, doors and/or boilers, chillers, cooling towers, electrical motors, variable air volume units, and frequency drives. Will provide expertise and assistance in daily operations, set-up/breakdown of special events and group rentals as well as exhibition projects utilizing various trade and supervisory skills.
Performs carpentry, locksmithing, painting, plastering/drywall and a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul as well as construction duties throughout the Museum complex in accordance with departmental procedures.
Under minimal to no supervision, must be able to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Under minimal to no supervision, must be able to provide cost estimating and Material Take Off (MTO) from blueprints, drawings, and construction documents.
A working knowledge or understanding of basic electrical concepts. Ability to inspect and repair or replace as needed electrical fixtures, lamps, receptacles, switches etc. located thru-out the facility interiors and exteriors.
A working knowledge or understanding of basic plumbing repairs and/or installation, to include but not limited to washers, faucets, toilet replacement parts, unstopping sinks, toilets, pipes, drains, gutters, etc.
A working knowledge or understanding of basic HVACR/mechanical systems and equipment. Ability to inspect, identify, and replace filters and belts on belt-driven equipment.
Perform seasonal duties such as cleaning drains, pits, stairwells, green roof and exterior upkeep as required.
Ensures that required documentation, operating logs, and maintenance forms are completed accurately and clearly and are maintained in accordance with department standards/methods including electronic data entry.
Assist or perform solo the duties associated with events to include setups and tear downs are completed on time, and spaces are returned to their normal state in a clean fashion.
Carry and utilize issued communication devices for emergency response and daily communication.
Assist with storm-preparedness and clean-up to include snow and debris removal.
Other duties as assigned within scope of experience/need.
Work Schedules ( may change based on business needs)
Five (5) hour shifts in a one week period. Shifts are scheduled in 5 hour increments beginning no earlier than 6AM and conclude at 7PM. Evening shifts may be extended as needed for events or other occasions with prior notification. A shift may be altered with minimal notice as needed in order to maintain shift coverage and may involve mandatory overtime.
High School diploma or GED.
3+ years construction and/or facilities maintenance.
This position is designated as an essential staff member and the incumbent is required to report to work as directed or remain on post in response to extreme weather or emergency situations including but not limited to emergency/storm preparedness and snow/debris removal.
Must have ability to safely lift minimum of 50 lbs.
