The Facilities Manager is responsible for handling all maintenance-based activities throughout the SPY complex including efficient monitoring and operation of the Museum’s overall physical plant comprising all HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Under the direction of the Director of IT and Facilities, you will manage the facilities team in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Your excellent customer service skills and strong leadership will help ensure the safety of staff, visitors, and Museum property. Additional duties include minor construction projects, assisting staff, serving as a liaison with contractors, and professional event preparations.
Facilitate and participate with building maintenance and repairs.
Supervise, mentor, and execute performance reviews for facility staff.
Be an effective, accessible, and respectful manager of staff.
Provide assistance in establishing capital and expense budget data and controlling spending within approved guidelines.
Reduce labor expenses through proper scheduling and the use of time management skills.
Manage all maintenance functions to ensure prompt response and proper diagnosis of equipment failures using best troubleshooting practices to minimize downtime.
Manage event setups and tear downs through close coordination with booking departments.
Build relationships with vendors for additional technical support and emergency response. Assist departmental teams with system challenges and recommend resolutions or process improvements.
Manage all preventative maintenance programs on facilities complex equipment and systems.
Personally provide advanced level of troubleshooting skills, as required, for the resolution of technical issues impacting production.
Maintain active communication with all departments, assisting with varying types of projects or process improvement programs for which facilities maintenance knowledge would be critical to their success and achievement of their goal.
Respond to all department requests in a courteous and timely manner.
Must have a strong desire to get along well with people and constantly strive to provide outstanding service.
Promote in house development of employees specific to facilities complex equipment and systems.
Develop and motivate key personnel to ensure a high level of technical expertise and customer service. Assure the best use of individual and group capabilities.
High School graduate/GED required, higher degree preferred
Minimum 5 years Facilities Management experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability with MS Office tools – Word, Excel and Outlook
Prior boiler, chiller and air handler maintenance experience a must
Ability to utilize MEP drawings to aid in locating and troubleshooting technical issues
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skillsets
Flexible availability including weekends and evenings
Must be able to balance, bend, climb, crouch, reach, stand, sit, and twist. Must have the finger dexterity to operate mechanical and office equipment as well as power tools as necessary. Must be able to lift/move a minimum of 50 lbs. Must exhibit mobility in order to monitor and maintain systems organization wide and to meet the daily demands of the position.
